Record the room, not just the floor
Measure the clear playing area and note doors, wall padding, fixed equipment, sockets, curtains and storage routes. Photograph each elevation and floor quadrant. A line layout can be geometrically correct yet conflict with how the hall is used.
List current and future sports
Separate layouts that must remain, layouts that can be removed and new requests. Record the intended level of play because recreational teaching layouts and competition requirements may differ.
Inspect the coating condition
Use consistent location notes for fading, peeling, contamination, repairs and damage. Include close photographs with a scale. Do not rely on a single wide photograph to explain an adhesion problem.
Build an approval pack
Combine the measured plan, photographs, condition notes, colour schedule, access window and responsible approver. Keep safeguarding and school access requirements separate from the technical drawing, but include them in the work plan.
